The Beatles - Drive My Car & What You're Doing & The Word

|

Love is a Grammy Award-winning soundtrack compilation album of music recorded by The Beatles, released in November 2006. It features music compiled and remixed for the Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. The album was produced by George Martin and his son Giles Martin, who said, "What people will be hearing on the album is a new experience, a way of re-living the whole Beatles musical lifespan in a very condensed period."

Yan tarafa Across the Universe şaheserinden Sadie karakterini koymamın sebebi Drive My Car'ın sözlerinin bana hep onu hatırlatması.

"baby, you can drive my car
yes, i'm gonna be a star
baby you can drive my car
and maybe i'll love you"
beep beep mm beep beep, yeah

The Beatles - She's Leaving Home

|

17 Mart 1967 tarihinde Sgt.

Paul McCartney'in şarkı hakkındaki yorumlarıyla başlayıp ek wiki bilgileriyle sona eriyor:

John and I wrote 'She's Leaving Home' together. It was my inspiration. We'd seen a story in the newspaper about a young girl who'd left home and not been found, there were a lot of those at the time, and that was enough to give us a story line. So I started to get the lyrics: she slips out and leaves a note and then the parents wake up ... It was rather poignant. I like it as a song, and when I showed it to John, he added the long sustained notes, and one of the nice things about the structure of the song is that it stays on those endlessly. Before that period in our song-writing we would have changed chords but it stays on the C chord. It really holds you. It's a really nice little trick and I think it worked very well.

While I was showing that to John, he was doing the Greek chorus, the parents' view: 'We gave her most of our lives, we gave her everything money could buy.' I think that may have been in the runaway story, it might have been a quote from the parents. Then there's the famous little line about a man from the motor trade; people have since said that was Terry Doran, who was a friend who worked in a car showroom, but it was just fiction, like the sea captain in "Yellow Submarine", they weren't real people.

The newspaper story McCartney mentioned was from the front page of the Daily Mirror, about a girl named Melanie Coe. Although McCartney made up most of the content, Coe, who was 17 at the time claims that he got most of it right. Her parents wondered why she had left... "She had everything she wanted". In real life, Melanie did not "meet a man from the motor trade", but instead a croupier, and left in the afternoon while her parents were at work. She was found ten days later because she had let slip where her boyfriend worked.Coincidentally, Coe had met McCartney three years earlier when she was a contestant and prize winner on ITV's Ready Steady Go!. An update on Melanie appeared in the Daily Mail in May 2008.

Sözleri de yazayım tam olsun. Ya da onları da copy paste edeyim:

wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins
silently closing her bedroom door
leaving the note that she hope would say more
she goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her handkerchief
quietly turning the backdoor key
stepping outside she is free

she (we gave her most of our lives)
is leaving (sacrificed most of our lives)
home (we gave her everything money could buy)
she's leaving home after living alone for so many years. bye, bye

father snores as his wife gets into the dressing gown
picks up the leter that's lying there
standing alone at the top of the stairs
she breaks down and cries to her husband
daddy, our baby's gone
why would she treat us so thoughtlessly
how could she do this to me

she (we never thought of ourselves)
is leaving (never a thought for ourselves)
home (we gave her everything money could buy)
she's leaving home after living alone for so many years. bye, bye

friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away
waiting to keep the appointment she made
meeting a man from a motor trade

she (what did we do that was wrong)
is having (we didn't know it was wrong)
fun (fun is the one thing that money can't buy)

something inside that was always denied for so many years
she's leaving home, bye, bye.

Küçükken acayip bir özgüven varmış bende, her türlü ortamda, artık mikrofona benzeyen ne varsa (kumanda, saç fırçası, vs.) elime alıp konser verirmişim. Hatta annem bir kasede önlü arkalı kaydetmiş sesimi. Bu da o dönemki favorilerimdendi. Hala da öyle. Sözleri de yazmıyorum artık.

Şarkıyla fotoğraf ne alaka diyenlere kısa bir açıklama yapayım: Lig Tv'nin yaptığı golcü videoların kurbanıyım. Bir Hakan Şükür videosunun altından akmasıyla ikisinin beynimde eşleşmesinin sonucu kısacası.

i found my love in portofino
perchè nei sogni credo ancor
lo strano gioco del destino
a portofino m'ha preso il cuor
nel dolce incanto del mattino
il mare ti ha portato a me
socchiudo gli occhi
e a me vicino
a portofino
rivedo te

ricordo un angolo di cielo
dove ti stavo ad aspettar
ricordo il volto tanto amato
e la tua bocca da baciar

i found my love in portofino
quei baci più non scorderò
non è più triste il mio cammino
a portofino i found my love

il y avait à portofino
un vieux clocher qui s'ennuyait
de ne sonner que les matines
quand portofino
se réveillait

mais après cette nuit divine
on l'entendit sonner un jour
même jusqu'aux villes voisines
de portofino
pour notre amour

je vois le marié qui m'emporte
vers le petit chalet de bois
dont il me fait franchir la porte
en me portant entre ses bras

a chaque fois qu'à portofino
le vieux clocher sonne là-haut
il chante notre mariage
vers les nuages
a portofino

Buyrunuz:

come up to meet you
tell you i'm sorry
you don't know how lovely you are
i had to find you
tell you i need you
tell you i'll set you apart
tell me your secrets
and ask me your questions
oh let's go back to the start
running in circles
coming in tails
heads are a science apart

nobody said it was easy
it's such a shame for us to part
nobody said it was easy
no one ever said it would be this hard
oh take me back to the start

i was just guessing
at numbers and figures
pulling the puzzles apart
questions of science
science and progress
could not speak as loud as my heart
tell me you love me
come back and haunt me
oh when i rush to the start
running in circles
chasing tails
coming back as we are

nobody said it was easy
oh it's such a shame for us to part
nobody said it was easy
no one ever said it would be so hard
i'm going back to the start.

MGMT - Time to Pretend

i'm feelin rough i'm feelin raw i'm in the prime of my life.
let's make some music make some money find some models for wives.
i'll move to paris, shoot some heroin and fuck with the stars.
you man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.

this is our decision to live fast and die young.
we've got the vision, now let's have some fun.
yeah it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

forget about our mothers and our friends.
we were fated to pretend.

i'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms.
i'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world.
i'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home.
yeah i'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

but there is really nothing, nothing we can do.
love must be forgotten. life can always start up anew.
the models will have children, we'll get a divorce,
we'll find some more models, everything must run its course.

we'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end.
we were fated to pretend.

lay down
your sweet and weary head
night is falling,
you have come to journey's end.
sleep now,
and dream of the ones who came before.
they are calling
from across the distant shore.

why do weep?
what are these tears upon your face?
soon you will see
all of your fears will pass away,
safe in my arms
you're only sleeping.

what can you see
on the horizon?
why do the white gulls call?
across the sea
a pale moon rises --
the ships have come to carry you home.

dawn will turn
to silver glass
a light on the water
all souls pass.

hope fades
into the world of night
through shadows falling
out of memory and time.
don't say,
"we have come now to the end."
white shores are calling
you and i will meet again.

and you'll be here in my arms
just sleeping.

what can can you see
on the horizon?
why do the white gulls call?
across the sea
a pale moon rises --
the ships have come to carry you home.

and all will turn
to silver glass
a light on the water
grey ships pass
into the west.
